| I grew up in hot countries with very bright light - this experience influenced my aesthetic awareness. My current work is increasingly concerned with the human scale. I find that by using media such as paint, charcoal and graphite, and found materials and fragments, I discover the image. Through a process of experimentation and also drawing from nature, I like to work an image through many stages to find its significance for me. |

Surface texture in painting is important to me and I enjoy experimenting with different media and exploring the surface effects possible; but I am always alert to the deeper meanings that are stirred by the painting process. Drawing and printmaking form a significant part of my work and help me to evolve the image. In scale my work ranges from very small, almost miniature, to human scale and I am currently exploring the transition from one to the other.
