"My current ceramic work draws inspiration from the underwater world - I am fascinated with marine fish and deep sea organisms. The colours, textures and surfaces from this area of nature are extremely vibrant and beautiful. This underwater environment will never be seen by many people and the aim of my work is to make these beautiful creatures available and bring the essence of this world to life for people to experience".
"To create such rich and varied work is technically very difficult and much of my time is spent testing glazes and the colours and textures that they will produce. This testing process will continue for many years as there are endless possibilities and techniques to experiment with".
"My canvases explore the relationships between colour and pattern on a two dimensional surface. I collect any patterns that catch my attention, from fifties and sixties textiles to the patterns found in fruit and seeds. I can then adapt and alter these designs to suit the canvas, playing with the elements of the pattern and altering the mood of the piece".
