I recently felt a need to get back to the bench, having spent so much time distracted by the business side of my work. As well as making an 11-course lute, which will be played in the Spring Festival, I have started making Baroque bows - something I have been meaning to do for years. These graceful objects are a fascinating variety of shapes and styles in beautiful materials - snakewood - ebony - rosewood etc.
I am making copies of renaissance and baroque lutes using a wide array of woods. I am also making a series of early bows for violin and cello in snake wood a most beautiful wood. Restoration and repair of violins continues to be a staple on my business.
