Wood was my first love, clay my second, the two for me are now inextricably linked. Throwing on the potter's wheel has been described as another form of the turner's lathe. I enjoy creating objects which have a strong tactile, visual and functional form. My aim is that the objects I make extol the inner quality of the media, be it the grain revealed when turning oak or a pot's enhanced beauty created by ash flying through a wood fired kiln and turning to glaze on the side of a pot.

Recent work has resulted in a range of items which unite both wood and clay together in a finished form. A converted shepherd's hut houses a small gallery where work is displayed.
Using wood and clay I seek to create functional ware which is simple, practical and aesthetically pleasing. My aim is to extol the inner quality of the media, be it the inner quality of the grain when turning oak or a pot's beauty enhanced through glazing in a wood fired kiln.
