John CramptonArlington Arts presents:
John Crampton
(plus support)
Arlington Arts Centre, Mary Hare, Newbury

John Crampton was simply incredible when he came here last year - so he’s coming back, simple as that!

Self taught on the guitar, banjo and harmonica, John started out as a solo performer 13 years ago creating a very big and powerful sound of hard hitting and very danceable uptempo blues and bluegrass.

He plays slide or bottleneck style on a 1930’s National steel guitar, banjo and harmonica with his foot thumping on a box to provide a driving rhythm.

Playing mostly his own songs, John is influenced by Howlin’ Wolf, Bukka White, John Hammond and early John Lee Hooker.

“One of the finest solo acts on the British blues scene” Blues Matters
“The finest blues you are likely to hear this side of Memphis!” Metro

This Is The KitArlington Arts presents:
This Is The Kit
(plus Overland Inn, plus Rozi Plain)
Arlington Arts Centre, Mary Hare, Newbury

This Is The Kit can authentically said to be ‘on the up’ getting picked up by some of the bigger festivals and receiving regular national radio play and now getting their next album produced and released worldwide by The National's Brassland Records in the US. With gradually growing audience numbers at each gig as the word gets out....

This Is The Kit is Kate Stables playing banjo, guitar and a voice of unaffected clarity accompianied by her Wild Band creating primal and electric textures onto songs of unpretentious beauty.

You thought you didn’t like the banjo but you were wrong pal. Kate Stables rips forward with a hypnotic twang pattern and a voice of rare unaffected beauty.Accompanied by a backing-band of minimal psychedelia, This is the Kit will transport you to a warm bath in the middle of a forest.

Most recent album 'Wriggle Out The Restless' (Disco Ordination ) Dist (Shellshock) was re released in 2011 and the songs remixed by a number of notable people including PJ Harvey Producer John Parish and Portishead's Jim Barr.

“Absolutely gorgeous, like an aural bath with the warm winter lapping over you” Cerys Matthews

“Amazing amazing album which I think should have been on the Mercury Music Awards short list” Guy Garvey
