 Progress Theatre presents:
Neverwhere
Neil Gaiman’s urban fantasy
Progress Theatre, The Mount, Christchurch Road, Reading
From the writer of Coraline, Stardust and an episode of Dr. Who; Neverwhere was originally created as a BBC2 television series in 1996, produced by Lenny Henry.
Robert Kauzlaric’s award-winning theatrical adaptation was first performed by the Chicago Lifeline Theatre in 2010:
“The Chicago Lifeline theatre production of Neverwhere is, I can say, now having seen it, absolutely WONDERFUL.” – Neil Gaiman (@neilhimself)
“There’s no question that Robert Kauzlaric’s adaptation is a full realization of Gaiman’s world” – Chicago Tribune
Set largely in the damp sewers and tube stations of London, the story centres on the hapless Richard Mayhew as he finds himself on a quest throughout the London underworld. On his journey he meets Rat-Speakers, an old Earl in his Court, professional assassins, black-robed monks and the Angel, Islington.
