Adam KayArlington Arts Centre presents:
From Amateur Transplants:
Adam Kay's Smutty Songs
Arlington Arts Centre, Mary Hare, Newbury

Amateur Transplants frontman Adam Kay sits at a grand piano and sings smutty songs.

With sell-out tours and Edinburgh Fringe seasons, his cutting-edge, darkly humourous re-imaginings of pop and rock classics have gained him a cult following across the UK. His songs have over 20 million hits on YouTube (including the iconic London Underground Song) and have been in the iTunes comedy top ten consistently since 2008. This show is probably not suitable for your elderly maiden aunt.

NB Unlike the majority of musical comedy, this is actually funny.

Best for people aged 16+

8pm
John HuntArlington Arts Centre presents:
John Hunt (plus special guest)
Arlington Arts Centre, Mary Hare, Newbury

Forget ‘I woke up this morning and my dog was dead’ blues, JohnHunt brings a playful sense of humour to his finger-picking songs.

Influenced by Lightnin’ Hopkins and John Lee Hooker, Hunt swings easily into Cole Porter and Sinatra with fresh bluesy arrangements uncommon for just guitar and vocal.

John Hunt has moved around in pursuit of inspiration. He spent five years living in a shed on The Isles of Scilly and a similar time in Orkney. He has emerged from the mud of the River Thames at Deptford into a true blues legend of the 21st Century.

“He writes his 21st Century Up-Blues slide songs and builds cannabilised guitars ‘He launches into a gritty number about a priest, who bribed by cheese and beer, tried to baptise him on the Isles of Scilly” The Scotsman

“Like Seasick Steve in a science lab” Ian Rankin

“Fantastic” Jools Holland
